Putting you in touch with the services you need is what we do at 2-1-1 San Joaquin County.
Kaiser Permanente has funded a 211-feasibility study for San Joaquin County.
This is a wonderful happening for all residents. To make their investment worthwhile we need your support.
2-1-1: One Single Call. A World of Help
The old way of finding help was like trying to find a needle in a haystack: people seeking resources had to call multiple government and non-profit agencies and search dozens of listings – only to be transferred time and again because they didn’t reach the right resource.
2-1-1 is a new approach that cuts through the red tape.
One easy-to-remember phone number connects callers to professionally –trained specialist who can give help in more than 150 languages, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Without 2-1-1, people must call an average of
eight numbers before getting the help they need.
2-1-1 specialist quickly evaluates a caller’s needs and refers them to the most appropriate community resources and service:
- Health Services
- Food and Housing Resources
- Mental Health and Counseling Services
- Income Support
- Help for Seniors and People with Disabilities
- Resources for Children and Families
- Emergency and Disaster Response
- Much, much more……..
Who Benefits from 2-1-1? Everyone!
- Public Safety is enhanced by relieving 9-1-1 call volume of non-emergency calls, and by partnering with emergency services personal during disasters.
- Taxpayers save money by consolidating government hotlines and making government more efficient.
- State and Local Government save time and money by increasing efficiencies, and better assessing emerging community needs.
- Nonprofits are better able to focus on clients in need, as 2-1-1 pre-screens callers to refer the right clients to the right services.
At our County level, The San Joaquin County Human Services Agency, with funding provided by Kaiser Permanente, has contracted with the Cultural Heritage Council of San Joaquin County to conduct a planning study to show how this system could be implemented in this county, to identify a lead agency to build and operate the system, identify possible funding, and to build support for its implementation.
